Why India won’t have a $100 billion company anytime soon

1 min read

india is growing a hell lot in startups. there are many startups that are going public and investors are able to see the return. India is growing. But will it have 100 billion dollar comapnies anytime soon?

umm that is a tough question.

so as we know lets first see how many people even exists in india who can pay and avail these services. roughly 70 million out of a population of 1.4 B.

now in these 70 million there exist 40 million who will only buy prolly once from. these people are those who earning 15-25k/ month in india for a family. a market that maybe meesho is trying for who mostly lives in tier 2&3 cities in india. all of them would mostly use public transport or own a scooty

then there are 20 million people who are slightly better than them. maybe they would buy 4-5 times a year. they live in tier 2 cities mostly. they would mostly use a scooty or a bike

then there are the 10million people who are active credit card holders and who prefers buying ott chanel. dine atleast 2-3 times a month and buy 7-8 times a year. this is the poluations that you would wanna go for.

so basically if you could get 10 million use base then your growth will take a lot of time. even VC;s now at this point and if you could get 10 million people for your product then there will be VC's who would give you $200-300M to give you the unicorn status.

also these comapanies are not that hard to maintain. they need like 200-300 million dollars/ year to sustain. and yes. but the people. ie the 10million people here are those who loves the product more and would change the product if they find an effective / better product. so now if you see this has to do with the GDP of the country.
