Kunal Shah

i think kunal shah is one of the most people who's podcasts are really amazing to hear. The way he clicks in dots and analogies from one aspect or subject to another is beautiful.

his podcast with the knoweldge podcast with shane perish is amazing and some the few takeaways that are really worth noting are

  1. he thinks everyone has our own social ranking. lets say I am on a level 40 and kunal shah is on the level 160. Products or services that lets me climb up my social ranking are those with high gross margin and the one that lower the social status are the ones with less gross margin.
    1. that's why you see service or utility business are the ones with the lowest gross margin are the ones that doesn't really increase your social ranking.
  2. he tells on how thinking from the framwork of how " if elon musk had to take the decision then how will he do it" - is a good framework
  3. information asymmetry is a real thing. people who seek a lot of information about the world make better decision
  4. no of experiences matters than years of experience
  5. ask ur parents if they would spend money to buy this
  6. we have a different maslow's heirachy
  7. understand the core motivation of the users. he is wants to buy a 50k apple earpods pro. its not for the feature but for signaling to the world
  8. readers and travellers tend to have more asymetrical information. since for them nothing seems unusual. its like lets say you are saying india has the best culture but if you haven't explored other reliegions then how do you come to a conclusion that india has the best culture
